About this settlement
Status
Open for claims. The claim deadline is November 2, 2026. The form covers wire harness problems that happened before May 5, 2026 or that exist now.
Summary
The plaintiffs say Whirlpool used substandard material in the wire harness that runs through the freezer door hinge, so the wires fray and break with normal use. When that happens, in-door features such as the ice maker, the ice and water dispensers and the control panel stop working, and there may be safety risks. The settlement covers refrigerators sold under the Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and JennAir brands, made between 2018 and 2021, and resolves the claims without any admission of liability.
Who Is Included
Residents of the United States or its territories who bought, received as a gift, or acquired as part of a home purchase or remodel a new Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid or JennAir side-by-side refrigerator with in-door features (a "Class Refrigerator"), and whose refrigerator had a Wire Harness Issue (a broken or damaged wire harness that caused a failure) before May 5, 2026 or has one now.
What You Could Receive
You pick the benefit that fits your situation, and you can pick more than one. Only what you actually paid out of pocket is counted.
- Partial reimbursement of repair costs you paid before May 5, 2026.
- Partial reimbursement of the cost of a replacement refrigerator bought before May 5, 2026.
- A repair, or a payment, for a wire harness problem that has not yet been repaired or replaced.
The exact amounts and repair terms are set out in the official notice.
What You Need To Do
- Answer the two eligibility questions.
- Enter your name and contact details.
- Enter the refrigerator's model and serial number (on the tag inside the door frame). Without a valid model and unique serial number you are not entitled to any benefit. You can check the serial number on the settlement website.
- Show that you are a class member, by documents or by a signed declaration, and pick the option for your In-Service Date.
- Show the wire harness problem: enter the PQSCM number from your Summary Notice if you got one, or confirm that you have dated proof.
- Choose your benefit(s), enter the amounts you paid, and choose how you want to be paid. Then sign. We keep your completed form and send it to the Settlement Administrator for you.
